Housewives, Awake: Betty Friedan- Famous Women (Poem)

The world views women

As maids of the mist

So when they turn the glass inward

That’s what they see

Housewife, mother

Doesn’t fill the hours

Or our souls

The problem that has no name

It’s scary

Diving in the unknown

We need to be role models

For our daughters

Free from our at home concentration camps

Create more than children

Live our lives

Rather than vicariously

Through husbands and children

Bow them with that weight

Educated as men

We then have to learn to be

Women

Founder of now

She showed us

This need not be all

Here’s the previous post in my famous women series.
